LEAHY is a powerhouse Celtic music group and one of Canada’s most renowned musical families. The band emerged on the international music scene in the late 1990s and introduced audiences to a brand-new sound that combined their traditional roots music and step-dancing with contemporary styles and instruments. Their extraordinary story as a musical family of 11 siblings was captured in an Academy Award winning documentary that foretold the success that followed. (The Leahys: Music Most of All)

To date, LEAHY has sold more than half a million albums worldwide and achieved double platinum status in Canada. Their first self-titled CD hit No. 4 on the Billboard World Music chart and had a #1 video on CMT with “Call To Dance”. Their impressive list of awards includes 3 JUNOs, 2 SOCAN awards, 1 CCMA, and a Gemini. In addition to countless televisions appearances, they've been featured in three PBS television specials - Leahy Live in Concert, Gael Force (with the Chieftains), and Leahy Live from Gatineau, Quebec. Over the course of their notable career,

LEAHY has toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe, earning a reputation for having one of the most exciting and musical live performances. The band was asked to join Shania Twain on her first ever world tour, Come On Over. This opportunity put their powerful performance in front of millions of music fans throughout North America and the UK. Amazingly, they brought every one of 175 audiences to their feet as her opening act.

LEAHY’s most recent collaboration was with 3-time Grammy winner, David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Rush, Smashing Pumpkins, Afro Celt Sound System) on their newest album, Good Water. David shepherded the band and their 10 new original offerings. Together, Bottrill and LEAHY created a sonic tapestry that fused their Celtic roots with elements of choral, classical, rock, country, and pop music.

With all of their widespread success, LEAHY remains committed to serving the music. “Our style is deeply rooted in our Canadian and Celtic heritage, but it also includes many other contemporary sounds and approaches. Sometimes we play traditional instruments in non-traditional ways, because our musical instincts take us in so many different directions. We love the pure and the progressive, the gentle and the fierce — the range of emotions that music can uniquely express.  We love it all, which is probably why our music and live performances are so diverse. Combining traditional roots music and instruments with genres like folk, jazz, classical, pop, and rock, is very natural to us. In music, there are no boundaries."

As a family and a band, LEAHY continues to evolve. “The music still leads us, and we do our best to follow. With so many more musicians, dancers, and vocalists in the family now, every performance is quite an experience!” The configuration of the band (touring members) has changed over the years. “We've always played music as a family but to pursue a professional life in music together, we had to learn - early on - how to accommodate all the changes that naturally occur in life - like having families of our own. This meant that some tours didn't include everybody – sometimes there were 6 of us on stage instead of 9. We'd pick up or sub in for each other and invite musical friends to join a tour when one of us wasn't able to travel

At a certain point, our children started touring with us which led to them making guest appearances on the show. After many years of living and playing music in this way, we found a balance and approach that has served both our musical goals and personal lives. LEAHY is currently working on a special project that includes new music and video recordings of their multi-generational band and family. Set to be released in the Fall of 2023, they’re on the edge of a new chapter in their career.
